Wattura Resort & Spa is a sublime boutique hotel tucked in between Waikkal beach and the Gin Oya Estuary, Wattura Resort & Spa brings a new concept to the island of Sri Lanka blending an elegant spa resort concept and family friendly facilities. Wattura is the Sinhalese term for ‘water is the celebration of life’ and is symbolic of the water that is ever present in the surroundings.
The resort boasts a lovely 1.5 km private sandy beach. There are just 27 opulent suites and villas here, all very spacious and extremely comfortable offering either river or ocean views and surrounded by a tropical paradise. Extra beds are possible in all room categories. During your stay you will be assigned a personal butler to look after any plans, spa treatments, meal preferences or excursions.
One Bedroom Suites start at 780 sq ft and offer a king size bed, private sit out terrace with citrus trees and views of the Gin Oya River.
Gin Oya Suites are two bedroom suites with plunge pool, private sit out terrace and views of the Gin Oya River. Both bedrooms have king sized beds and this suite is around 1,975 sq ft in size.
The Duplex Villa with Plunge Pool is a very spacious One Bedroom villa at 2,657sq ft with king-size bed, living room, plunge pool, spacious balcony overlooking sea and beach as well as a private garden, daybed and swing.
Wattura Residence, at 3,360 sq ft, is a two bedroom interconnecting suite with two king sized beds. This sumptuous residence is located at the edge of the resort with a 360 degree view of the
river and the ocean. This option includes direct access to the beach, a courtyard, private gardens and a rooftop infinity plunge pool with a large terrace, day beds and a BBQ grill.
The exquisite spa offers signature treatments and wellness packages. Cascading waterfalls, plunge pools, deep and shallow pools, hot and cold relaxation areas, courtyards and a Zen garden all complete the idyllic atmosphere.
Whilst parents are relaxing in the spa, children can enjoy the kids’ zone, with exciting supervised activities including arts and crafts, outdoor games, water slides, sports activities, playground, video games and its own kids’ café with specially designed children’s menus. There is a charge to book children in for a session (half or full day) and if parents wish to enjoy a romantic evening together, it is also possible to book evening sessions.
Fresh, locally sourced Sri Lankan cuisine is fused with South Indian marinades and Arabic grilling techniques presenting a uniquely diverse menu in the hotel restaurant, Pappali. This minimalist style restaurant has been thoughtfully designed in order to provide peace and privacy for all diners through the use of private dining pods. Guests can also choose to dine looking out over ocean views, or across the pool.
Wattura is a unique option for both couples, singles and families alike seeking tranquillity, facilities and the friendly charm of Sri Lankan culture.
Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka, is definitely a worthy addition for anyone interested in the history and culture of the island. Whilst other areas boast ancient archeological sites, wildlife and glorious beaches, Colombo represents the modern side to the country. Old colonial buildings are slowly being ear-marked for luxury hotel developments and cafes in the future, artists display their work on the streets and in galleries and new restaurants and bars are giving the city an edge of cool.
Essentially Colombo is becoming more cosmopolitan by the day and it doesn't look like it is slowing down any time soon. It is a fun place to be, noteable by the increasing expat community, and although there is the usual craziness of traffic in most areas that is so distinctive of many an Asian city, there are also some areas that are much quieter and even some lovely parks to enjoy. A sundowner at the Galle Face Hotel is a lovely way to end a hard day's shopping, sightseeing and exploring in Colombo.
Wattura Resort & Spa is located north of Negombo and Colombo, along Sri Lanka's west coast.
The resort is nestled between Waikkal beach and the Gin Oya Estuary meaning both beach and river are accessible for activities.
