Region

London is, quite simply, unique and there is very good reason why the nation's capital attracts millions of overseas visitors every year. From star attractions such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London and the London Eye to a wealth of incredible museums and galleries, beautiful parks, the theatres of the West End and some of the best restaurants in the world, London is a fabulous city to spend a weekend in, as part of a more varied itinerary through the UK or as a stopover.

The wider community of London is highly multi-cultural and it is this social diversity that makes the city so fascinating. One outcome of these widespread influences is the phenomenal and varied dining opportunities in terms of global cuisine on offer.

Foodies will delight in the city's historic and buzzing covered food markets, bursting with character through the personalities who work there. On the surface, London can seem like any other city where busy people rush on their way, but take some time to talk to the locals and the conversation will undoubtedly be rewarding.

Shopping here is second to none; from the best luxury brands present on Bond Street and Mayfair to the quirky stalls of Portobello Road Market and Camden Lock Market as well as world famous department stores such as Harrods and Selfridges, and of course, not forgetting Oxford Street, Covent Garden and the Kings Road. Savile Row is the home of classic British bespoke tailoring and clothes purchased here will last a lifetime.

The history of the City of London is almost overwhelming but to explore in depth or even touch the surface of London’s past will bring a level of understanding as to why the city really is such a vibrant and characterful place to be.

Local Area

This is the perfect central London location to visit historical buildings such as St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

Other new designs in the area include The Shard, The Gherkin, Millennium Bridge and the Tate Modern.

Nearby markets worth a visit are Leadenhall, Petticoat Lane and Borough Market, plus the Royal Exchange is one of Britains best-known shopping malls.

Testimonials

  • Make sure you have lunch or dinner at the Mercer Roof Terrace as the views of London's skyline are simply stunning. Try a delicious barrel aged cocktail in the DND (do not disturb) bar and ask for it to be served in their exquisite birdie cocktail glass. Book a suite with a view, as waking up in an incredibly comfy bed looking out over London is not to be missed. - AY
  • A fabulous new hotel nestled in a quiet little side street close to Maison Station. The interior is very tasteful and eclectic. I loved the colours and the fabrics used to give the room a very comfortable and stylish atmosphere. The rooftop restaurant and bar offers a breathtaking view over the Thames, Blackfriars and The Shard. This is my new go to hotel in the city. - M. Bosch
