Villa Casa Alta has been rebuilt on the ruins of a medieval defensive tower of the Murlo Estate in beautiful Umbria. Known for its idyllic landscapes, valleys and historical towns, the view of the wooded valley below Villa Casa Alta certainly ensures Umbria lives up to its reputation of beauty.
The fabulous roof terrace offers magnificent panoramic views that will stay etched into your memory, along with the private fenced and landscaped gardens which create a tranquil haven that you would be forgiven for not wanting to leave.
The interior of the villa has been expertly designed to capture the true heart of authentic Italy. Two Master bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms, boast grand and oversized beds, warming fabrics and rich, deep wooded furniture creating a sense of luxury. The third bedroom is bright and airy and hosts two bunk beds ideal to sleep four guests or perfect for children.
The living room with its open log fireplace offers a luxurious, warm and intimate place for guests to relax at the end of the day spent exploring the valleys, artistic legacy and culinary delights of Umbria.
To the exterior there is a picturesque seating area along with a barbeque and dining table, perfect for the long warm evenings. The heated infinity pool and enticing Jacuzzi will ensure your time at Villa Casa Alta is as sumptuous as possible.
Whether you decide to spend your time experiencing the stunning architecture of the medieval town, wandering through the hills and dense forests that have caused Umbria to often be referred to as "the green heart", or tasting Italy's infamous delicacies such as truffles and wines, Villa Casa Alta is sure to delight as it perfectly promotes its surrounding, creating the ultimate serendipity of beauty.
For a long time Umbria lived in the shadow of its illustrious neighbour Tuscany, but in recent years this delightful region, known as the ‘green heart of Italy’, has come into its own. It continues the characteristics of Tuscany as it rumbles southward towards Rome, a land rich in agriculture both on the higher plains and in the fertile river valleys. Matters were helped by the runaway bestseller book ‘Under a Tuscan Sun’ which was based on the very southern edge of Tuscany in the town of Cortona where Tuscany meets Umbria but which brought this region to public attention.
Umbria is also a stronghold of remnants from the Etruscan dynasty that ruled Italy before the Greeks colonised it – Perugia, the regional capital, was an Etruscan fortified town for example, and there are remains of this obscure culture of which so little is known to be found. It was perhaps inevitable that such a glorious region could not stay forever in obscurity. Umbria offers the visitor the full swathe of good Italian experiences. Fascinating hillside villages such as Gubbio, considered the most perfect medieval town in Italy, Orvieto with its other worldly Cathedral, and Perugia, the graceful capital of the region, bask in a landscape of lakes, forests and, in the far distance, the Apennine Mountains dusted with snow.
