Victoria Falls River Lodge is located within the Zambezi National Park, strung out along the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. Although a quiet riverside setting, it is still close to Victoria Falls and the key activities and sights.

Well-spaced and air-conditioned, the 13 luxurious tents are constructed of canvas, glass and wood and boast uninterrupted panoramas of river and natural bush. Each extends out to a private deck and plunge pools. Stylish and spacious, the rooms enjoy an interesting fusion of European and African décor, with clean lines and a fresh, earthy feel.

5 of the tents are family-friendly and have an alcove with two bunk beds and a single bed.

Watch out for game and the prolific birdlife from the main lodge or cool off in the rim-flow, infinity pool between daily river cruises and exciting game drives.

The lodge provides a complimentary transfer to Victoria Falls and optional extra canoeing trips, fishing and walking safaris may be arranged at an additional charge. Perhaps enjoy a relaxing treatment in the luxurious Riverside Spa.

Region

Victoria Falls presents a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River, forming the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It was described by the Kololo tribe living in the area in the 1800’s as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. In more modern terms Victoria Falls is known as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world.

Columns of spray can be seen from miles away as, at the height of the rainy season, more than five hundred million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge, over a width of nearly two kilometres, into a gorge over one hundred meters below.

One special vantage point is across the Knife-edge Bridge, where visitors can have the finest view of the Eastern Cataract and the Main Falls as well as the Boiling Pot, where the river turns and heads down the Batoka Gorge. Other vantage points include the Falls Bridge, Devils Pool and the Lookout Tree, both of which command panoramic views across the Main Falls.

Victoria Falls is the adrenalin capital of the world, with many activities to choose from.

The best time to visit the spectacular Victoria Falls is from February to May, directly after the region’s summer rains, when you’ll see the world’s largest sheet of falling water flowing at its greatest volume.

The green season usually starts off in about November with the first spring rains but it takes time for the water that has fallen in the Angolan Highlands to wind its way down a series of massive gorges.
