Verney's Camp is located at Verney's Pan in a private concession in the heart of the south eastern part of Hwange National Park. The concession is 10,000 hectares in an extremely remote part of the park, which can only be accesses by guests staying at camp.

There are ten tents which are tucked under the teak trees bordering the waterhole which is in front of the camp, where the game comes to drink. Each tent offers lovely views and has an en-suite shower, flush loo, double basins and are all beautifully

designed in the authentic safari style. There are eight double / twin rooms, along with two family rooms, all which are on wooden decks and connected by natural pathways at ground level.

Activities include game drives, including night safaris, all day game drives with picnics, walking safaris and visits to the local community. The village visits give guests the chance to engage in a cultural exchange and also to visit the local schools and are best pre-booked.

Region

Bordering Botswana, Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest game park with an area of 14,600km² and is only a two hour drive or a 40 minute flight from Victoria Falls. Its sheer size means that its scenery, vegetation and game vary massively, ranging from the semi desert scrub on the edge of the Kalahari in the south, to forests, granite hills and valleys of mopane woodlands in the north.

The national park is home to over 400 bird species and 100 mammal species, including lion, leopard, cheetah and rhino, and is known for its large population of elephant. The highest numbers of animals are spotted in the dry season when the wildlife congregates around the shrunken water holes.

Keen birders, however, might enjoy the summer months from November to April when migratory birds are present.
