Mount Gahinga Lodge is nestled at the base of the Virunga Volcanoes and is a stunning lodge hidden in the southern corner of Uganda. Its rustic charm is inspired by traditional design.

Gahinga Lodge is the perfect base to track the rare golden monkey, go gorilla tracking, climb a volcano, walk through local villages and most of all to share the culture of the Batwa pygmies, the oldest inhabitants of the Central African rain forest.

The lodge with its beautiful living room, sun room and terrace has fantastic views of the volcanoes

and the Kisoro valley below. The bandas reflect the magic of the aesthetic traditions of the Bufimbira people, with their distinct colours. Each Banda has an ensuite shower room, private porch and fireplace.

Activities at Mount Gahinga Lodge include gorilla tracking, (please note that gorilla sightings in Mgahinga are by no means guaranteed), golden monkey tracking, guided walks, bird watching, Batwa Cultural heritage tour, volcano climbs and massage.

The park’s elevation between 2,227 to 4,127 meters above sea level offers cool equatorial climate with very agreeable and cool weather. The nights are very cold during both the dry and rainy season. However, heavy rainfall is received throughout the year.
The perfect time to visit the park on a gorilla safari and volcano hiking is during the dry season from December to February and June to September. Although the forest can be wet, the trails get dry and easy to hike. The rainy season is from April to May and October to November.
