If you are looking for a luxury island getaway the Maldives should be at the top of your shortlist.  Crystal clear waters lap up the soft, white, sandy beaches of private islands surrounded by a turquoise lagoon teaming with tropical wildlife.  Throw in some luxurious accommodation (often with your own private swimming pool), fine dining, 5-star service and 8 hours of sunshine a day and you are starting to get a sense of the magnificent Maldives.

The tropical paradise officially known as the Republic of Maldives is an archipelago consisting of over 1,000 coral islands located atop the Chagos-Laccadive Ridge. Situated in the Indian Ocean, specifically the Arabian Sea, the islets have a year-round hot tropical climate, meaning that whether it is raining, cloudy or sunny, the temperature is always lovely and warm! These islands are one of the world’s most geographically dispersed countries, giving rise to a vast range of different habitats in which various aquatic animals such as dolphins and sea turtles can live in harmony. Beautiful coral reefs and crystal clear water provide ample opportunity for snorkelling, while the pristine white sandy beaches give guests a chance to unwind.

There is plenty of choice when considering which Maldives island to enjoy your break.  For family trips, Kurumba is an excellent choice which offers plenty of water sports and activities for the kids whilst retaining all the refinements you want from a luxury holiday in the Maldives. Biyadhoo is a great choice for diving holidays with several top quality dive sites and a world-renowned diving school.  Kuramathi is a great all-rounder popular with couples and families and when it comes to the ultimate in luxury Maldives holidays you cannot go far wrong with Bolifushi Island.

The Maldives bears a rich cultural history, having been occupied by various countries including the Portuguese and the British, whereby it became a British protectorate in 1887. The archipelago itself became independent in 1965, which was followed by a dramatic increase in tourism. However, this has not affected the guest’s experience, as the number of luxurious resorts is growing due to the large number of unpopulated islands. Furthermore, the Maldives is a unique holiday destination as the small size of the islands mean that one resort can occupy an entire island, giving residents greater privacy.

These breath-taking islands really are the perfect place to relax with awe-inspiring views and you can rest assured that you’ll be well taken care of during your stay.

If you're in the market for a luxurious getaway, look no further than the Maldives. With 5 star resorts, crystal-clear waters and stunningly soft white sand beaches, these islands are sure to provide an unforgettable experience.  Our team have a wealth of knowledge about the different islands and resorts in the Maldives so get in touch and book your luxury escape today.

It is possible to visit the Maldives any time of the year since the temperatures remain constant, it is just the rainfall that varies. The driest months are usually between November and April. In the remaining months, occasional showers and the odd downpour can be expected, but they usually pass quickly and it is pretty rare to see persistent rain. During the wetter months prices are lower but it is still a wonderful time to visit The Maldives. During May and June, the waters can be a little more cloudy for diving and snorkelling due to more unsettled weather.
