Chalet 1597 was once a traditional Austrian farmhouse dating back to, you guessed it, 1597! However, fear not, there have been some changes of late and this romantic property is still, from the outside, that glorious Tyrolean farmhouse of a bygone era. But venture in and you will soon see its' interiors have been catapulted into the twenty first century...in quite specatular style.

Located in the Stubenback area of Lech, in good conditions you can ski to within a very short walk to the chalet via the marked off-piste Rutikoft ski area. Or it's a short drive to the centre of Lech, under 5 minutes.

The warmth engulfs you as soon as you enter the property. The reclaimed wooden walls and floors, splashed with antique rugs & fur cushions, just makes you feel straight at home. Shoulders, relax! The spacious living room retains the Tyrolean features with its Stube (traditional heating oven) and antique, intricately painted furniture. Combined with chic crisp sofas, the new meets old in perfect harmony.

On the entrance floor there is a stylish cinema room for the children along with the boi sauna glass relaxation area for the 'grown-ups'. One of the five bedrooms is located on the ground floor so should there be anyone in your group who prefers

not to have to head upstairs to bed, then this is the perfect bedroom...also, great for those who like to make it first for breakfast!

The dining room and kitchen are also located on the ground floor and are in keeping with the traditional style.

Upstairs are the remaining four bedrooms along with a libraby area on the landing. The two master suites both have emporer beds and due to the age of the property, the rooms are all very spacious and cosy warm as they used to be where the hay was stored to dry out!

The real gem of this fantastic family chalet is located on the lower ground floor. Hidden down the concrete steps is the most fantastic wine cave & tasting room. Harking back to medieval days, there are still the meat hooks & wooden beams in place.

The owner has cleverly kept all the features and built in a bar area with counter for wine tasting to take place. With the candles glinting and the aroma of cheese it really is the most wonderfully romantic and charming end (or beginning!) of an evening. There is also the massage room down here too...so you can roll across for a treatment should you wish!

Region

Famed for her sophistication and elegance, the stunning resort of Lech is an exclusive escapism within the heart of Austria's
largest connected ski area, Arlberg. Tradition and luxury go hand in hand here as you stroll down the pristine main street adorned with intricately detailed & colourful residences, boutique shops & restaurants. Once a farming village, the old age charm has been preserved in every detail which further adds to the warm community feel of this resort. Incredibly chic but not at all pretentious.

But once out in the mountains, this timeless grace, genteel nature and elegance are but a distant memory. Board the gondola to transport you up into the
towering heights beyond, unfolding as you go, the promise of some of Europe's most challenging off-piste terrain ahead. High altitude, thus a great snow sure area with a longer than usual ski season, the Arlberg ski area consists of neighbouring Zürs along with St Anton 'over the top'. Don't forget to make a stop off in the small village of St Christoph where you will find one of Europe's best lunchtime spots, Hospiz Alm, and a huge variety of slopes for all levels of skier. For nursery slopes and the more nervous skiers, we suggest staying close to the area around Lech where gentle, cruising uncrowded pistes can be found. For the adrenaline junkies & powder hounds, make your way over to St Anton and take on the longest off-piste lift connected on ski route - taking in the infamous Valluga summit.

Zürs is just 4 km's away from Lech and can be reached by car and also ski lifts and pistes. The famous White Ring includes Lec, Zurs, Zug and Oberlech. Zürs is now almost exclusively a hotel village and the first ski lift in Austria was built here in 1937.
