Named after the 1800s English explorer Samuel Baker, Baker’s Lodge is located on the southern bank of the mighty Nile River that transects Murchison Falls National Park.

This intimate and upmarket safari lodge set on the water’s edge overlooks a clearing with beautifully trimmed grass, large shady trees and wetland area that is abundant in bird life.

Each of the ten private cottages, raised on wooden decks, have excellent views both upstream and downstream of the river. These spacious cottages

are fitted with solar lighting and hot water, mosquito nets, bespoke wooden furniture and locally crafted accessories.

The en-suite bathrooms are open plan, with some units having a bath with a view. The lodge has a central lounge, bar and dining area, with a raised wooden deck allowing 180 degree views of the river.

A number of boats operate on the river, where guests can fish for Nile Perch, take tours on the top of the falls and enjoy delta river cruises.

Region

Located in North Western Uganda, Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest and best known national park. Named for its spectacular waterfall and managed by the Ugandan Wildlife Authority, it promises to provide you with jaw-dropping scenery. The waterfall is the product of the immense White Nile, which squeezes through a small gap in the rocks before tumbling down over 40 metres into Lake Albert.

The park is an exceptional place to see wildlife; elephants, giraffes, lions, antelope, waterbucks, buffaloes, hippos and crocodiles can all be seen with ease today. With activities such as safaris and boat trips, which is the best way to see the Falls, on offer, Murchison is guaranteed to be a simply unforgettable experience.

Murchison Falls has a brief Dry season from December to February. However, from March the rains arrive, easing up in June to July, before continuing up until November.

The best time to visit Murchison Falls is during the Dry season as wildlife viewing is best. However, the rains often make the park's scenery even more stunning, so this can be a good time to visit as well.
